Photographing an editorial shoot - KPMG

When I was in high school I only knew two types of professional photographers, Wedding Photographers and Photo Journalist (news photographers or sports photographers), but what does an 18 year old kid know. The world of professional photograph is so, so much more.

Editorial photographers operate within a unique niche of photography which combines so many different skillsets and styles. The moments we capture are planned, stylized, and yet somewhat candid. On today’s session, we had loose brand guidelines and a very long shot list of items we needed to capture. To summarize, our main goal was to capture the newly renovated NYC office space with people, without people, and the people of the KPMG Ignition team collaborating with one another.

Science Saturday STEM Learning

What separates my photography apart from the competition? My background in marketing and advertising. Not only do I know how to technically capture a beautiful and engaging photo, but I too know how capture photos that can actually be used in a clients marketing/advertising collateral; space for text, subjects that are divers and excited, and not too busy. Simply put, I know what images need to be captured.

Science Saturday at The Rockefeller University in Manhattan, NY brought real scientists, experts in their respective fields, to engage with children and teach them bite size pieces of science that they could understand; physics, biology, anatomy, and more.

NYC Non-Profit Headshot - Joseph

I’ve photographed literally thousands of professional, editorial, and corporate headshots throughout NYC. While some are in studio, most are captured throughout New York City. The city provides context, character, and real personalization versus a standard colored background. Regardless of who you are, aspiring actor hoping to stand out in a sea of thumbnail images or a business professional wanting to revamp your LinkedIn profile, every success story begins with a powerful headshot.

For many people being photographed is an awkward and dreaded chore that they keep postponing year after year. It’s intimidating and even downright scary. If that sounds like you, you’ve come to the right place! I specialize in helping average people, like you and I, become relaxed and confident in front of the camera. I’ll guide you through the process every step of the way, help you to feel comfortable and show you how to put your best face forward.

NYC In Office Marketing Photography Session

My Photos tell stories and connect people.

An advertising and marketing photographer works with his clients to create eye-catching photographs. Depending on the campaign, I’ll photograph models, regular everyday employees, product(s), buildings, and/or places. However, the goal is the same. Tell as story, convey a point, and to connect people to people or people to ideas.

On this assignment with Ascentail, a global data and analytics company, I was hired to tell the story of working at Ascential. What does company culture look like? What does working at one of Ascential’s offices feel like in 2022?

To feel authentic we didn’t stage rooms or create mock scenarios. We simply let people be people. Luckily, the day we organized our photoshoot was the first day back in the New York City office post-COVID.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Product Photography Shoot

A recent lifestyle and product photoshoot for client Defender Safety capturing Level 1 and Level 3 surgical masks, along with their eye/face protection solutions. On this assignment, my main goal was to photograph the life of a PPE mask from start to finish. The “life cycle” includes everything from the boxes that safely store the masks, how the boxes are opened, the process of how to properly put a mask on, and lastly how/where the masks are used.

product photographers vs lifestyle photographers - What are the differences?

Defender Safety’s facial masks are surgical grade with all of the necessary certifications. Their masks have seen a huge success during COVID19, both for professional usage and civilian life. On this assignment, we staged a medical office and a dental office by bringing in the equipment needed to portray a healthcare setting; stethoscope, lab coat, scrubs, and product. Using ambiguous rooms at North Shore Comprehensive Dentistry this shoot covered a wide gamut of possible healthcare settings.

While I am a Product Photographer for several clients throughout New York, Defender Safety was not interested in having me simply photograph their product. They wanted to show their products in the field being used. Enter Jonathan Heisler the Product Lifestyle Photographer. These images were created for ads and marketing pieces (email, websites, print materials) showing the products in use. For example, some of these photos and scenarios will be used to show step-by-step how to properly wear a face mask.
