Capturing Atlas Amidst the Holiday Splendor

During the holiday season, I had the opportunity to photograph Atlas, NBCUniversal's 1.5-year-old black Labrador Retriever, at the iconic Rockefeller Center. Atlas is part of NBCUniversal's "Puppy with a Purpose" program, a collaboration with America's VetDogs and the Guide Dog Foundation, aimed at training service dogs for veterans and first responders with disabilities.

Planning and Photographing a Surprise Proposal at Hudson Yards The Edge

When it comes to unforgettable moments, few can rival the excitement and emotion of a surprise proposal. If you’re lucky enough to be tasked with capturing such a significant event, especially at an iconic location like The Edge at Hudson Yards, New York City, the pressure is on to ensure every moment is perfectly preserved. The breathtaking views, modern architecture, and dynamic setting of The Edge make it an ideal place for a proposal, but planning is key to ensuring you get the perfect shots.

Why Choose The Edge at Hudson Yards for a NYC Proposal?

Here’s are the quick highlights of why The Edge is one of the most popular spots in New York City for proposals:

  • Stunning Views: Located on the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, The Edge offers panoramic views of the city skyline, including the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Hudson River, and beyond. The sheer scale of these views makes it a memorable backdrop for any proposal.

  • Modern Architecture: The glass-floored observation deck, with its futuristic design and transparent floor, adds a unique element to the experience.

  • Intimate Ambiance: Even though it's a well-known tourist attraction, the vast expanse of The Edge allows for moments of privacy, especially during early morning visits or weekdays.

Capturing Gabe's Central Park Oak Bridge Proposal at Dusk

The Perfect Setting: Central Park’s Oak Bridge at Dusk

There’s something incredibly “New York City Fall Cozy” about the Oak Bridge Gazebo in Central Park. Situated near the Museum of Natural History (77th street), this charming nook is a quiet and peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Surrounded by lush trees and serene pathways, Oak Bridge is the perfect backdrop for an intimate proposal with an unrivaled city view.

As the sun began to set, the sky was painted with soft hues of purple, blue, and pink, casting a gentle light over the landscape. The evening glow created a dreamlike atmosphere, setting the stage for Gabe’s carefully planned moment. Having the privilege to photograph this moment is why being NYC’s leading Premiere Proposal Photographer is truly the best job in the world!

Photographing a Thanksgiving Day Roosevelt Island Proposal

A Picture-Perfect Proposal on Roosevelt Island

Roosevelt Island, nestled between Manhattan and Queens, is a unique, quiet oasis in the middle of New York City’s East River. Its serene ambiance, panoramic views of the skyline, and stunning waterfront make it the perfect spot for a proposal — especially during the busy Holiday touristy months.

Cheng-Wei’s plan was to propose as they strolled the Cornell Tech campus, the place where they both met while completing their Masters degree. The specific spot we chose featured the 59th Street Bridge and the Cornell Tech buildings.

We ventured near the Four Freedoms Park, which is always a stunning spot with its dramatic views of Manhattan and its sweeping, minimalist design. The geometric lines and large stone sculptures provided an artistic contrast to the warmth of this newly engagement couple, making each photo feel so special.

Golden Moments: A Fall Family Photo Session in Central Park

The Session: From the Model Boat Pond to Bethesda Fountain

There’s nothing quite like autumn in New York City, and when it comes to capturing timeless family memories, Central Park in the fall is pure magic. As a NYC family photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting in many beautiful locations, but few are as iconic — or as breathtaking — as Central Park in November.

For this recent family photo session in Central Park, we started at one of my favorite hidden gems: the Model Boat Pond. With its reflective waters, classic toy sailboats, and tree-lined backdrop bursting in golds and reds, it was the perfect spot to begin our shoot. From there, we strolled through the winding paths covered in leaves, making our way toward the Bethesda Terrace and Fountain. This area is truly the heart of Central Park and an unbeatable spot for family portraits.

Why Central Park in the Fall is a Dream for Photographers

As a New York City photographer, I always recommend fall sessions to families who want that classic NYC look with an extra pop of seasonal color. Whether it’s your first time doing family photos or an annual tradition, Central Park offers the kind of warmth and timelessness that shines in every frame.
