Eli and Alexandra NYC City Hall Wedding

Simplicity and authenticity are the best two words to describe Eli and Alexandra. Capturing their happiness, authenticity, and eagerness to marry one another, their best friend, was really exciting. As a seasoned wedding photographer, with thousands of weddings under my belt, their city hall wedding in the heart of NYC was special. It was nice that there was no big catering hall, big cake, and a complicated dress to cloud the focus of the day.

Instead of detail shots consisting of uber expensive watches and shoes, the details of their day were the little things; their call number for the wedding paperwork, the pen Alexandra gave Eli, their wedding rings, and Eli’s UVA binder where they first met.

Peyton’s Proposal Atop Central Park’s Cat Rock

Central Park has countless scenic spots, but Cat Rock stands out as one of the most iconic proposal locations in New York City. With sweeping views of Midtown’s skyline, open sky, and natural rock formations, it combines city energy with a sense of intimacy. On a crisp November afternoon, Peyton chose this very spot to ask one of life’s biggest questions.

As the couple walked through Central Park, the late-fall leaves created a golden backdrop. Cat Rock offered the perfect vantage point, high above the trees, with the skyscrapers of 59th Street glowing in the background. Peyton got down on one knee, and with the city behind them and the park below, the moment felt both private and cinematic.

Capturing the Moment:

Photographing on Cat Rock requires careful timing. The open setting provides natural light that changes quickly depending on the hour, and weekends can bring crowds to the overlook. By arriving early, I secured the best angles—framing both the skyline and the couple’s emotion in one shot. The elevated perch of Cat Rock gave us dynamic compositions, from sweeping wide views to intimate close-ups.

Why Cat Rock Works for Proposals:

  • Panoramic City Views — You’ll see Central Park and Manhattan’s southern skyline all in one glance.

  • Natural + Urban Mix — The stone outcrop makes the moment feel grounded while the glass towers remind you it’s unmistakably New York.

  • Accessibility — Located near Central Park South, Cat Rock is easy to reach while still feeling tucked away.

  • Versatility — Great year-round, whether surrounded by summer green, autumn color, or winter snow.

Planning Your Proposal at Cat Rock:
If you’re considering Cat Rock for your proposal, here are a few insider tips:

  • Best Time: Early mornings or weekdays for fewer crowds. Sunset provides golden light but can be busy.

  • Footwear: The rock is uneven, so be mindful of shoes, especially in dress attire.

  • Backup Spot: Central Park has nearby alternatives like Gapstow Bridge or The Mall, in case weather or crowds make Cat Rock challenging.

  • Photography: Hire a professional who knows the park’s layout and lighting shifts—you’ll want every angle covered.

Every proposal tells its own story, and Cat Rock gives couples a dramatic yet personal stage. Peyton’s Central Park proposal was filled with emotion, energy, and timeless New York charm.

Roslyn Village Headshot Photos - Katrina

My core focus when capturing professional headshots and editorial portraits is to create images you are proud of. Being photographed is awkward and it’s outside of most people’s comfort zones. I strongly believe if I can help you feel good when having your photos taken, you’ll look pretty dang good too!

Julian's Hoboken Waterfront Proposal

Why should you propose in Hoboken, NJ or Jersey City? If you’re from New Jersey, you see the NYC skyline from a whole different perspective than that of Brooklyn. The Hoboken Waterfront can be a great day trip destination or a morning stroll with its’ unobstructed views of Manhattan. The pro’s of this area are it’s never busy, unlike Brooklyn Bridge Park or Gantry Plaza in Long Island City and there are never tourists here either. The view is always clear and no matter which way you face you are guaranteed to get an amazing view of the NYC skyline.

Photographing One Large Long Island Family

Family photography is unique, as it has so many different variables; the children’s age, family dynamics, location, and so on. Todays session was perfection. I photographed 5 sisters and their families in Sayville, NY. Today’s family session was a gift for their mother.

I broke the session out in to parts by first photographing each family. Then I captured the kids, cousins, parents, and sisters individually. Later, I brought everyone together. While most of the session was posed, I introduced time for candid photos. The candid photos really captured everyone being their true selves.
