Pietro's Brooklyn Botanical Garden Cherry Blossom Proposal

The warm Spring air is on the surface of every NYC breathe you take, and it means better days are coming. It also means a time for beautiful blooms to come to life. And what better place to capture the magic of spring than at Brooklyn Botanical Garden during peak cherry blossom season? If you're planning to propose in New York City in the month of April, this is the perfect spot to pop the question.

As a photographer, there's nothing more exciting than capturing a surprise proposal. It’s so real, and meaningful. It’s so important and yet quick, but not. Here are some tips to make your spring surprise proposal and engagement session at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden truly memorable:

  1. Plan ahead: You’ll need a permit - So, reach out to the garden well in advance. Also, peak cherry blossom season typically lasts for only a week or two, so make sure to check the Garden's website for the most up-to-date information on the blooms.

  2. The exact location: The Garden is massive, so it's important to discuss location with the garden staff. Typically, they’ll select a spot for you, which avoids the crowds and gives you privacy. Check out the Cherry Esplanade, Cherry Walk, and the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden for some of the most picturesque spots.

  3. Timing is key: The best time for photos is during the "golden hour" when the sun is low in the sky and the light is soft and warm. Plan your proposal accordingly. How are you going to get your partner to the garden at the time you have selected?

  4. Capturing the proposal: Of course, the highlight of the session will be the proposal itself. Relax! Go with the flow!

Bryan's Jersey City Proposal along the Hoboken Waterfront

As Bryan and Mary walked towards the Manhattan skyline I knew capturing today’s surprise marriage proposal along the Hoboken, NJ waterfront was going to be special. Bryan held Mary’s hand with one hand and a small black box in the other. Mary looked out at the New York City completely unaware of what was about to happen.Bryan backed away from Mary, got down on one knee as he opened the box to reveal a sparkling diamond ring. Mary's was in shock as she realized what was happening, and she began to cry. The backdrop of the Manhattan skyline served as the perfect setting for this memorable occasion.

Is Hoboken, nj a good spot to propose?

Proposals in Sinatra Park and Hoboken, NJ are a lot different, yet similar than those in Manhattan or Brooklyn. There are never any tourists and the area is always more private. The view is always clear and no matter which way they face you are guaranteed to get an amazing view of the NYC skyline.

NYC Conference Photography is about the BIG moments and the details.

As professional NYC Conference and Event Photographers we are always searching for big moments, the little moments, and everything in between. The sum of it all tells the story of an event, and we often hear the detail photos we capture are crucial in planning future events, whether for an annual event or new event; empty rooms, setup photos, branding, chair and table placements.

“PLEASE DON’T take photos of PEOPLE LOOKING BORED… WE DON’T NEED PHOTOS OF PEOPLE LOOKING BORED AT OUR EVENT.”

No matter how serious the event is, there are always a few light moments where someone cracks a joke or gets the crowd excited. No matter how “instant” these moments are I am ready. As a corporate event and conference photographer, I am always searching for those split second events of laughter, joy, and excitement. I am always ready to photograph smiles and laughs.

Nick's Roosevelt Island Proposal

Roosevelt Island is so close to Manhattan and yet it feels so different. When you take the cable car ride over the East River to Roosevelt Island you enter another world. The island offers amazing views of Manhattan and Long Island City every which way you look. It also offers an view with few tourists, unlike so many other parts of NYC.

On today’s secret proposal assignment, everything just worked perfectly to provide a moment this couple will never forget; the lighting, the weather, the privacy. Photographing Nick’s proposal at 4pm on a Friday, on Roosevelt Island, offered us our own private venue more or less. I think the photos show that.

Capturing Devin's Pier 25 Proposal along the Hudson River

There are so many unique places to propose in NYC that share where you are, especially in Lower Manhattan and along the waterfront of Hudson River Park. There’s so much cool architecture in this part of the city and endless amazing views (Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, the Empire State Building looking uptown)!

Devin chose Pier 25 in Hudson River Park for his proposal for these exact reasons, and it was the perfect location for his NYC proposal and the many photos we captured together.

As they walked down Pier 25, hand in hand, Beth had no idea what was in store for her. The rain had stopped, leaving the air warm. They enjoyed the view of the Hudson River and the towering World Trade Center. As they stopped at the end of the pier to take a selfie, that's when it happened.

Beth turned around to find her boyfriend down on one knee, holding out a diamond ring. She gasped in disbelief as he asked her to marry him, tears streaming down her face.

I captured the moment from a slight distance, standing behind them and capturing their emotions as they shared this incredible moment together. I then approached them, congratulating them on their engagement and introducing myself as their photographer. They were thrilled to have photos of their special moment, with the World Trade Center rising majestically in the background and surrounded by the New York City skyline.
