NYC Skyline

Jersey City Waterfront Surprise Proposal | NYC Proposal Photographer

The Jersey City’s waterfronts has become one of the best places to plan a surprise proposal near New York City. With panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, the Hudson River, and plenty of open space, it offers an unforgettable backdrop while feeling more relaxed than many proposal locations in Manhattan.

For Chase's surprise proposal, the waterfront provided the perfect setting. The skyline stretched across the river behind them, creating a classic New York backdrop while allowing the moment to remain intimate and uninterrupted.

Why Propose at the Jersey City Waterfront?

The Jersey City waterfront offers many of the iconic New York views couples love while providing a quieter experience than many Manhattan proposal locations.

Some of the biggest benefits include:

  • Unobstructed views of the Manhattan skyline

  • A spacious waterfront promenade with plenty of proposal locations

  • Beautiful natural light throughout the day, especially near sunset

  • Fewer crowds than many popular NYC proposal spots

Surprise Proposal on a Boat in Jersey City | NYC Proposal Photographer

Jack planned an incredible surprise proposal aboard the PopEye, a private boat docked in Jersey City, creating one of the most unique proposal experiences in the New York City area.

With Lower Manhattan stretching across the horizon, the Statue of Liberty nearby, and Fourth of July festivities beginning to fill New York Harbor, this proposal couldn't have taken place at a more memorable time. As his partner admired the incredible views of the Manhattan skyline, Jack got down on one knee and asked one of the biggest questions of their lives.

Why a Boat Proposal Is One of the Best Ways to Propose Near NYC

For couples looking for a proposal that's both private and iconic, a boat proposal offers an incredible combination of scenery and intimacy.

Some of the biggest advantages include:

  • Panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline throughout the experience.

  • The opportunity to include the Statue of Liberty in your engagement photos.

  • A private setting away from crowded parks and tourist attractions.

Whether departing from Jersey City or another nearby marina, proposing on the water creates a once-in-a-lifetime experience that's difficult to match anywhere else around New York City.

Bryan's Jersey City Proposal along the Hoboken Waterfront

As Bryan and Mary walked towards the Manhattan skyline I knew capturing today’s surprise marriage proposal along the Hoboken, NJ waterfront was going to be special. Bryan held Mary’s hand with one hand and a small black box in the other. Mary looked out at the New York City completely unaware of what was about to happen.Bryan backed away from Mary, got down on one knee as he opened the box to reveal a sparkling diamond ring. Mary's was in shock as she realized what was happening, and she began to cry. The backdrop of the Manhattan skyline served as the perfect setting for this memorable occasion.

Is Hoboken, nj a good spot to propose?

Proposals in Sinatra Park and Hoboken, NJ are a lot different, yet similar than those in Manhattan or Brooklyn. There are never any tourists and the area is always more private. The view is always clear and no matter which way they face you are guaranteed to get an amazing view of the NYC skyline.

Matt + Erica Gantry Plaza Proposal

Congrats, Matt and Erica! About a month ago, Matt and I started planning how and where he’d propose. Since Matt and Erica live in Long Island City, near Gantry Plaza State Park, Gantry Plaza, with its awesome views of the New York City skyline, only made sense.

Photographing a Long Island City Proposal makes me love NYC that much more. It is quintessential New York

Together, Matt and I scouted the area, sent texts and emails with screenshots of the area, watched the weather, created a Plan A and a Plan B, and decided on a post proposal restaurant for brunch.

The morning of Matt’s proposal, the weather was “iffy” with rain in the forecast. I arrived at Gantry Plaza a whole 90 minutes early to send Matt final photos of our Plan A location. I also sent a Plan B location, which was under an awning. Finally, with 40 minutes to go and the raindrops subsiding, we said “Plan A is a go!”. The skies cleared.

As I saw Matt and Erica approach, I cleared the pier. It was a HUGE surprise for Erica.

capturing a mini-engagement session provides variety in the images i can deliver (posed and candid photos)

We took full advantage of the Spring flowers on our post proposal shoot.
