Proposal

Photographing Carlos and Sabrina's Central Park New York City Proposal

I did not think “New York City Proposal Photographer” was a job option. As a professional photographer in nyc, it is.

What makes each and every proposal assignment unique are the couples, their stories, and how they decide to start the next chapter of their journey together. Sure, each proposal is kind of the same, as it’s always someone getting down on one knee to ask “will you marry me?”. However, all of the moments leading up to that single moment and how they design their proposal is genuinely unique. With every inquiry and every proposal we photograph, we learn so much about about our couples and their stories. It’s what we love about being NYC Proposal Photographers.

Photographing Carlos’s Secret Central Park Proposal

The plan was to go to Central Park for a private picnic with all of the fixings; blanket, wine glasses, picnic basket, food, and one another. The execution was just that and more.

From afar I photographed Carlos and Sabrina entering the area we discussed. The opened their blanket and setup their picnic. Sabrina reached in to the basket for one last item and discovered a hand written card Carlos wrote. As Sabrina read the card Carlos dropped down to one knee behind her. Sabrina looked up from the card and there Carlos was with a ring.

Hampton and Anne-Marie's NYC Brooklyn Rooftop Proposal

It’s no surprise New York is one of the top destinations to propose. Couples travel thousands of miles to make their special moment that much more special. From the iconic Brooklyn Bridge to the peaceful serenity of Central Park to the dazzling lights of Times Square, New York City is truly the most romantic city in the world. It makes our job as NYC Proposal Photographers amazing and easy.

A private nyc rooftop proposal, Amazing.

To date, we’ve photographed hundreds of proposals all throughout New York City, Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey. However, one of our favorite types of proposals to photograph is a rooftop proposal. For Hampton, there was no better location to propose than the rooftop of his Williamsburg, Brooklyn apartment terrace with its unobstructed views of all of Manhattan.

How to pick where to propose in NYC?

I always recommend the best place to propose as the one with meaning and significance. For Hampton, besides his awesome view of NYC, his apartment was where the two of them spend the most time together. It’s where they unwind after a long day of work, it’s where they make dinner together, and it’s where they shared their first apartment together.

Secret proposal Photographer, 007.

As a secret proposal photographer, I often don’t actually have to hide. In New York City, every resident and every tourist walks around with a camera. I’m just another guy. However, for a rooftop proposal the element of surprise can be hard, but there are exceptions. Often, I use this cover, “I’m with the building’s marketing team photographing the view. Just ignore me” or I just hide behind furniture.

Central Park Proposal - Allen and Mata + Puppy!

As a Secret Central Park Proposal Photographer, we don’t often actually have to hide. We usually blend in amongst the tourists and the bird watchers with our camera. However, for Allen and Mata, Allen requested we be 100% out of site and not introduce ourselves post proposal. His hope was Mata would not know their moment was photographed until later.

Where to propose in New York City?

That’s often our most asked question. My answer is pick a place with meaning. For some couples, Central Park, NY is where they spent the most time getting to know one another. For others, it’s the Brooklyn Promenade waterfront overlooking all of Manhattan. Chose a place that is both beautiful and important.

For Allen, Central park was that special place as it’s where they take their dog everyday. Proposing in Manhattan’s Central Park made the most sense.

As a New York City Proposal Photographer I enjoy getting to know couple and I love photographing the moment their relationship enters the next step.

Today’s proposal session, was so cool! As the couple approached, I was hidden out of site photographing. First, Allen came with their new 10 week old German Shorthaired Pointer and then Mata caught up with their 4 year old Weimaraner. After some small talk, Allen got right down to business. He told Mata how much she meant to him. Then, he got down on one knee and asked.

Congrats!
