I don’t think a more perfect proposal could have been planned, dreamed of, or scripted.

Julien planned to propose at sunset Friday evening on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. A few minutes before he was planned to arrive he texted me they were running late. It didn’t matter because when he arrive we had the best sunset I had ever seen (this was the night before a whicked Nor’Easter)

Andrew chose the Brooklyn Heights Promenade for his sunset proposal because of the view, quiet atmosphere, and not as hectic / touristy vibe when compared to Brooklyn Bridge Park with Jane’s Carousel. The sun set offered beautiful natural orange light and very special moment on their unforgettable moment.

A Sunset Proposal at Brooklyn Heights Promenade

Brooklyn Heights Promenade always feels steady and open, especially as the sun begins to set behind the Manhattan skyline. In early December, the air is crisp, the light softens quickly, and the city starts to glow without feeling crowded. It’s a setting that works quietly in the background, letting the moment take center stage.

For Zeek, the Promenade was an easy choice. It offered the skyline he loved, the timing he wanted, and enough space to include their dog — an important part of their everyday life together.

Planning and Capturing the Moment

The sunset in early December comes quickly, making timing especially important. We planned to arrive just as the light began to drop, allowing the skyline to stay bright while the sky warmed with color. The Promenade’s long sightlines kept the background clean, with the river and Manhattan stretching behind them.

As they walked along the path with their dog, the moment felt relaxed and natural. When Zeek stopped and asked the question, the skyline framed them perfectly as the sun dipped lower. The presence of their dog added an honest, personal layer to the proposal — nothing staged, just a reflection of their life together.

Afterward, we stayed along the Promenade for portraits as the blue hour set in. The mix of sunset tones, city lights, and the quiet energy of the evening made the session feel calm and unhurried.

I positioned myself where the Brooklyn Bridge would frame Rick as he knelt—so when she looked up, everything would feel cinematic.

After she said yes, we took advantage of the sunset glow, wandering along the water, letting the light and architecture do the storytelling. The result: a mix of emotional candids, wide cityscapes, and intimate portraits that are meaningful and dramatic.

Jane's Carousel DUMBO Proposal

Sometimes there’s just no time for tradition. For Taylor, that was the case when proposing to Jordan at the Brooklyn Bridge Park in front of Jane’s Carousel. Jordan instantly knew he was going to propose as he went for his sweater pocket. As he pulled out the ring she ecstatically screamed “YES”
