Central Park is at its best in the early morning. The paths are quiet, the light is soft, and the warm colors of fall settle naturally across the trees. For this NYC family session, the timing worked perfectly. The leaves had just hit peak, and earlier in the morning it rained keeping tourists out of Central Park.

The Little Red Lighthouse sits quietly beneath the George Washington Bridge, tucked along the river. It’s a great spot to peacefully watch the sun set at the end of the day without tourists and large crowds surrounding you. A real oddity for Manhattan. Sunset was the right choice for this location. On a warm day, this area has runners and cyclists whizzing by. However, on a late fall day (the day before Thanksgiving) the light wrapped around the lighthouse and caught the steel of the bridge. For Jonathan’s proposal the area was quiet with just a single person passing by. The setting felt personal without being isolated.

After the proposal, we walked along the waterfront for portraits. The bright red of the lighthouse, the structure of the bridge, and the open river gave us a range of backgrounds in a small radius. The evening light made everything feel calm and intentional as the sky shifted into blue hour.
