When a corporate client hosts a masquerade party at their SoHo showroom and office, the event is bound to be memorable and a photographers dream. From intricate masks to elegant evening wear, the atmosphere is rich with mystery, sophistication, and energy. Tonight’s event was not the usual “networking cocktail hour” or gala was so often photograph in New York City.

A masquerade party isn’t just about the aesthetics—it’s about the mystery, the intrigue, and the dynamic interactions between guests. Candid photography played a crucial role in telling the story of the night. I captured guests laughing behind masks, toasts being raised, and the subtle glances exchanged between attendees. The biggest challenge is always waiting for moments to naturally unfold while being ready to snap the perfect shot. I also wanted to capture the clients products and branding/ name “Gessi” in to the background of my images.

To ensure well-exposed shots, I balanced ambient light with off-camera flash maintaining the mood while highlighting subjects effectively. When clients invest in colorful uplighting and moody lighting, it’s easy for bright white flash to ruin the true look and feel of the event
