“Iconic” is the word we use to describe proposing on the Brooklyn Bridge. When Anthony reached out for helping planning his mid-October secret morning proposal we knew his morning proposal was going to be beautiful. Proposing to that special someone on the Brooklyn Bridge, connecting Manhattan to Brooklyn, with the NYC Skyline behind you is so romantic. It captures New York City so well.

Whether you are visiting New York or are a native, this proposal location is just breath taking. It’s one of the best places to propose in New York City. The photos we can capture on the Brooklyn Bridge and then in DUMBO go well beyond just photographing the proposal moment.

Celebration of Life | NYC Dinner Event Photographer

Photographing at Le Bernardin by chef Eric Ripert is always in honor. Last time I photographed a dinner at this world famous 5 star rated Manhattan, NY restaurant was in 2017 for a closed door, off the record event with former President George W. Bush. Tonight’s dinner was for a global consulting and finance firm to celebrate the world opening up post-COVID, surviving the past 20 months of tumultuous times, and coming together to see one another again.

Tips for hiring a NYC Event Photographer for your dinner.

Photos of people eating (shoveling food in to their mouths) makes for awkward photos. The best way to have your evening photographed is to have your photographer photograph the before dinner, the after dinner, and the moments in between. For tonight’s dinner event, I photographed the reception, parts of the dinner, a musical guests, and several small speeches.

Your photographer should not distract guests.

Whether it’s myself, or my team of professional photographers out on an assignment, we are constantly scanning the room looking for the next photo. We wait for people to smile, to laugh, to talk with their hands, and to embrace one another. These moments make great photographs, and tell the story of your event as a fun time.

Joanne and Nick’s wedding was all about family and close friends, and when photographing their weddings I made sure to capture their unique connection with their family and friends. All of Nick’s Groomsmen were his high school buddies and for Joanne the same was true. As a wedding photographer, my goal is to capture what I call “the story of the day”. I love to capture the details that often go unnoticed and obviously the big moments, and everything in-between.

John and Mary's Lincoln Center Proposal was a quintessential New York City proposal. When you combine a great couple and an iconic venue, you’re going to capture amazing photos. It’s a recipe for success. Photographing moments like this is why I love photographing in NYC.

How we planned to photograph John’s Lincoln Center Marriage Proposal

John reached out several weeks before his proposal with a plan. His plan was to take Mary to see a show at Lincoln Center, on Manhattan’s West Side. Then, on the way to the entrance of Lincoln Center he’d stop in front of the fountains and ask her to marry him. Next, like all proposals we photograph, the second biggest question at hand remained, “what if rains?”.

The weather looked good all week and then the morning of John’s proposal rain entered the forecast. However, the forecast did not just call for rain throughout the day or just in the evening. The rain was scheduled for precisely 1 hour before and 1 hour after John’s proposal, with the chance of light rain during.

What if it rains during my marriage proposal?

Our plan was to proceed anyways, and if it was raining they’d either walk with an umbrella or John would propose under the building’s overhang, safe from the rain. In the end, the rain stopped for a perfect 30 minutes. Enough time for John to propose to Mary, and for us to capture several post proposal, amazingly beautiful posed photos of New York City’s newest engaged couple.

Old Westbury Gardens Proposal Photographer | Nick and Susanna

Proposing on Long Island at Old Westbury Gardens

Transport yourself to another time or perhaps another world, and back again. Old Westbury Gardens, situated just 30 minutes from the heart of Manhattan, is a sliver of what Long Island in the 1920’ was all about; over the top homes and magnificent grounds. Today, the property remains just as beautiful and serves as an escape from the modern world.

As a professional photographer, specializing in photographing proposals and engagements, I’m always asked “Where should I propose”. If you’re on Long Island, I first recommend a place with meaning and then, I recommend a place that is beautiful, intimate and relaxing. For Nick and Susanna, of Queens, NY, the gardens provided it all for their special moment.

Nick perfectly chose a mid October Friday morning knowing the weather would be cool and the garden grounds wouldn’t be busy. Since the grounds were not busy, Nick chose to propose in front of the main home on the big lawn, the most popular spot on the grounds.

To start, you’ll need to obtain a permit from Old Westbury Gardens to have the moment professionally photographed. PURCHASE YOUR PROPOSAL PERMIT HERE. The staff at Old Westbury Gardens strictly enforces professional photographers photographing there. They will stop your photographer mid-proposal and ruin him/her from photographing your moment.

Next, think about the time of day you’d like to propose and where on their grounds you’d like to propose. Generally speaking, the most popular places will be the busiest. Although, one perk of hiring a professional photographing with the permit is the garden will provide an assistant close areas off for us. Meaning, people will not be in our photos.
