Behind the Scenes at the 2025 US Open: Photographing An Exclusive Event with Tennis Legends

As a New York City Corporate Events Photographer, few assignments rival the energy and prestige of working behind the scenes at the US Open. This week, I had the opportunity to capture several IBM-hosted events. Today’s assignment featured two of tennis’ greatest icons: Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova. The intimate discussion brought together sports history, technology, and future-forward innovation. Evert and Navratilova reflected on their legendary rivalry, shared predictions for the 2025 US Open, and spoke passionately about the future of the game.

For most of my clients, these images become powerful tools to showcase innovation, collaboration, leadership, culture, and thought partnership in industries that extend far beyond tennis.

Corporate Photography at Global Events

Photographing corporate events like this goes far beyond staged moments and group shots. It’s about capturing:

  • Authentic connections between speakers and audience - Engagement and active listening!

  • Brand storytelling through event design, logos, and atmosphere

  • Candid behind-the-scenes moments that often matter just as much as what’s happening on stage

Capturing Your Next Corporate Event in NYC

Whether it’s a closed door leadership summit, a corporate hospitality experience at a major sporting event, or a product launch, professional photography ensures your brand’s story is told with authenticity and impact. These images are not scrapbook photos, but impactful marketing assets that will be shared.

Jonathan Heisler Photography specializes in corporate events across New York City—from global conferences to activations and cultural moments like the US Open. Our goal is simple: to create images that celebrate your brand and connect with your audience.

Joel's Romantic DUMBO Proposal | Brooklyn Bridge Park Proposal Photography

Choosing the Perfect Proposal Spot in DUMBO

We’ve captured thousands of surprise proposals across New York City since 2012, and each one is genuinely unique and memorable. Recently, our team photographed Joel’s proposal in DUMBO, a location that perfectly blends Brooklyn’s charm with sweeping views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline. When most couples think of a DUMBO proposal, they picture the crowded areas near Jane’s Carousel (examples here) or along the waterfront South of the bridge near the Rivers Cafe. However, Joel wanted something more private and intimate, while still incorporating the Brooklyn asthetic. Together, we chose a tucked-away location in Brooklyn Bridge Park, just behind Celestine, the popular restaurant on Jay Street.

The Perfect Cover Story

We helped Joel plan every detail of his surprise NYC proposal with care. To keep the proposal a surprise, he told his partner they had a dinner reservation at Celestine. This clever excuse made it natural to walk toward this part of the park at just the right time. It give him a reason to go to X spot at Y time.

Why DUMBO is One of NYC’s Best Proposal Locations

DUMBO is one of New York City’s top proposal and engagement spots because it offers:

  • Iconic views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges

  • A mix of cobblestone streets, parks, and waterfront backdrops

  • Easy access to world-class restaurants like Celestine for a celebration afterward

By choosing a less crowded area, Joel created a proposal that felt special, intimate, and unforgettable.

Friday Afternoon Proposal in Central Park’s Hidden Garden Trellis

As a NYC Proposal Photographer, I’ve captured countless proposals, but Rohil’s September early evening proposal was beautifully intimate. Instead of choosing one of Central Park’s busier landmarks, Rohil and I planned something more private for his future fiancée—a proposal in a tucked-away section of the Conservatory Garden, beneath the charming elevated trellis.

The timing couldn’t have been better. On a Friday afternoon, the garden was quiet, bathed in the soft glow of early fall light. The trellis offered a natural frame of greenery, purple flowers, and rustic charm, making the perfect backdrop for a surprise proposal. Unlike the bustling Bethesda Terrace or Bow Bridge, this spot allowed Rohil and his partner to savor the moment in peace without the distraction of large crowds, other photographers, and at times uneven lighting.

If you’re considering a Central Park proposal, don’t overlook its hidden gems. Whether under a trellis, in a quiet garden, or along a secluded pathway, these lesser-known locations offer beauty, intimacy, and photographs you’ll cherish forever.

A Surprise Proposal at Fort Tryon Park Near The MET Cloister

As a professional NYC Proposal Photographer in New York City, I’m always scouting hidden gems that offer breathtaking backdrops without the overwhelming crowds. While The MET Cloisters used to be a favorite for proposals, professional photography is no longer permitted inside the museum grounds. To be clear, if you have a professional photographer or someone directing you the facility will escort you out. Fortunately, just steps away, Fort Tryon Park provides the perfect alternative—combining stunning views, history, and a peaceful atmosphere for a truly memorable proposal. Plan the day to visit both in this often unexplored part of NYC!

So, why Choose Fort Tryon Park for your Proposal?

Located in Upper Manhattan, Fort Tryon Park feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Midtown. Unlike Central Park, which is often packed with tourists and locals alike, this spot offers a much more intimate setting. The park is filled with winding paths, beautifully maintained lush gardens, and sweeping views of the Hudson River, the George Washington Bridge, and the Bronx.

Planning the Perfect Day Around Your Proposal

Proposing at Fort Tryon Park gives you the chance to plan more than just a big question—it allows for a full day of adventure and a story to hide the big surprise:

  • Explore The Cloisters: Even though professional photography isn’t allowed inside, it’s a wonderful cultural experience to enjoy as newly engaged partners.

  • Take a walk through the Fort Tryon Gardens before hitting the subway home Stroll through the Heather Garden or hidden stairways for romantic portraits.

  • Proposal Time! and Cheers nearby: End the day with dinner at New Leaf Restaurant & Bar, conveniently located within the park.

As a NYC Proposal Photographer, I help couples plan every detail—from finding the perfect time of day for soft, romantic lighting to suggesting locations that balance privacy with beautiful scenery. Fort Tryon Park has quickly become one of my favorite proposal destinations in Manhattan, and it might just be yours too.
