On a Thursday evening in late April, we photographed a gala at one of New York City’s iconic cultural venues and public spaces, the Morgan Library. The Morgan Library is a space that combines old and new. Nestled in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Morgan Library provides historic library halls, grand architecture, and a sophisticated atmosphere perfect for a fundraising event.

As a NYC event photographer, there are few assignments as meaningful as documenting an evening dedicated to changing lives. This recent fundraiser at 610 Loft & Garden in Rockefeller Center brought supporters together to help raise funds for a new education building and training facility for America’s VetDogs and Guiding Eyes for the Blind on Long Island. With one of New York City’s most iconic rooftop venues as the backdrop, the night was filled with purpose, energy, and unforgettable moments.

Documenting Purpose Through Detail Photos

Before guests even arrived, I began by capturing the small details that define an event’s story. Custom cocktails inspired by Kirby the service dog, branded décor, and a hands-on activation where attendees could create their own guide dog with a custom vest all kept guests engaged with the brand throughout the evening. These detail photos give organizations visual assets they can use long after the event—across marketing materials, campaigns, and donor communications.

Speakers, Honorees, and Supporters

Throughout the night, impactful speakers shared stories of how service dogs transform lives for veterans and individuals who are blind or visually impaired. I photographed the speakers from multiple angles to highlight both their presence and the audience’s reactions—key storytelling elements for nonprofits looking to showcase engagement and momentum.

Candid Moments

Beyond the staged moments, I focused on capturing candid photos—guests networking and chatting, interacting with the dogs, exploring the activation stations, and just having a good time. These natural, unposed moments help communicate authenticity, and character of your community.

This year's Kosciuszko Foundation Gala supported Ukrainian refugees. The evening was held at the Plaza Hotel in New York City and successfully raised nearly 1.5M dollars for Ukraine.
