NYC proposal

Joey + Marissa | Upper East Side Proposal NYC

Congrats to New York City’s newest engaged couple, Joey and Marisa!

With the craziness of the Corona Virus going on we were restricted as to where Joey could propose. Not all place would allow a photographer in to their establishment and not all places (restaurants, hotels, venues) could guarantee they’d even be open. Instead, we chose Marissa’s parents beautiful apartment on the Upper East Side for their secret marriage proposal.

I arrived 30 minutes early to photograph detail photos of Joey’s decorations.

As an experienced NYC Proposal Photographer, I appreciate photographing every proposal because each proposal is unique.

Right on time the apartment door opened. Marissa was shocked. Joey led her down the rose and candy lined path. Without any hesitation, and not even in the heart shaped spot he intended to propose in, Marisa said “YES!”

NYC Rooftop Proposal | Alex and Lauren

Congrats to New York City’s newly engaged couple, Alex and Lauren!

Lauren, I think it was worth going up to the 23rd floor rooftop on a windy 18* February day to “checkout the New York City skyline”. Alex’s proposal was worth freezing for a bit.

Proposal Photography - Not my first rodeo.

Having photographed countless marriage proposals both here in NYC and throughout the New York Metropolitan area, one would assume I’m a bit jaded photographing secret marriage proposals. However, I still get excited being part of a secret proposal. From helping to plan the moment, to waiting for the couple to arrive, and finally photographing the moment as he proposes I still smile. Every marriage proposal is unique, just like how every couple is unique.

Ari and James - Pier 17 NYC Proposal

Congrats James and Ari!

How to plan a secret marriage proposal with a photographer

Several weeks before James’ proposal the two of us met at Pier 17 to rehearse where and how he’d propose to his girlfriend, Ari. The only thing we could not plan was the weather. Prior to James’ proposal, I asked him all of the key questions I needed to, so I could perfectly photograph the moment he asked Ari to marry him.

  • What time are you going to propose?

  • Which direction will you be coming from?

  • How are you going to get her to the location?

  • What’s your Plan B if it rains?

NYC Proposal Photographer in action

Right on time, James and Ari walked through Pier 17, and towards our planned location. The weather could not have been more perfect, nor could the view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The second I saw the couple approaching I started photographing. Ari did not suspect a thing!

Popping The Question - New York City Style

After James popped the question we took several posed photos and then did a mini-engagement shoot along Pier 17 and throughout South Street Seaport.

Washington Square Park Proposal | Joel and Alexa

Secrets Marriage Proposals are in-fact a secret.

Photographing Joel and Alexa's proposal at a private wine bar overlooking Washington Square Park was a once in a lifetime experience. It was definitely a moment I will not forget as a photographer. Alexa did not a expect a thing as they entered the bar and as Joel proposed. It really was a true surprise proposal.

Washington Square Park Engagement Session

To be the first to wish a newly engaged couple a congratulations is always an honor. So is photographing the couple’s first photos as a newly engaged couple. Post proposal I always offer my clients a “mini-engagement session”. Because we were right along Washington Square Park and the weather was a 10 out of 10 we used the park for their engagement photos.

Meatpacking Proposal NYC | Rice + Sarah

The Best NYC Proposal Photographer …

Photographing a marriage proposal involves a great guy, an amazing girl, and a plan. How and where will you propose are the top questions I ask clients. From the start, Rice knew how he was going to propose and where. He made my job of planning and photographing their proposal in the Meatpacking District of NYC easy and fun.

Knowing when to propose

The second Rice and Sarah stopped walking, passing by New Yorkers and tourists alike knew Rice was going to propose. Sarah on the other hand did not. She was SHOCKED as Rice got down on one knee! Photographing their proposal was genuinely exciting.

Engagement Session Photos

Post proposal, I photographed the newly engaged couple along the iconic cobble stone streets with a few simple poses. Having the honor of photographing a just engaged couple is a lot of fun and super easy. I never have to ask a couple to smile. The energy I capture in my photos is 100% real.
