Cole's Waterfront Surprise Proposal at Brooklyn Bridge Park | NYC Proposal Photographer

Few proposal locations in New York City combine waterfront views, iconic landmarks, and a peaceful atmosphere quite like Brooklyn Bridge Park. When Cole reached out to plan his surprise proposal, he wanted a location that felt romantic while showcasing the beauty of New York without the crowds of Midtown.

A Beautiful Afternoon Proposal

The afternoon light at Brooklyn Bridge Park created beautiful, natural conditions for photography. Soft sunlight reflected off the East River while the Manhattan skyline provided a timeless New York backdrop without overpowering the moment.

Cole proposed near The River Café with the waterfront and Lower Manhattan surrounding them. After hearing "yes," we stayed around The River Café and the waterfront for their engagement portraits, capturing a variety of beautiful backdrops without needing to venture farther into the park.

Some of our favorite portrait locations included:

  • The waterfront promenade overlooking the Manhattan skyline

  • The River Café gardens and pathways

  • The scenic waterfront surrounding The River Café and Brooklyn Bridge Park

A Sunset Proposal at The River Café in Brooklyn Bridge Park

This spring, we’ve seen a growing number of proposals at The River Café—and it’s easy to understand why. Located within Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO, the setting offers a balance of privacy, waterfront views, and one of the most recognizable skylines in New York City.

Justin’s proposal took place at sunset when the Manhattan skyline begins to glow. The moment started in the River Café garden, a more secluded space, which was very natural to get his partner to as they had a reservation there. We then transitioned our way to the waterfront for portraits with a clear view of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge behind them. The combination of garden and waterfront allowed for a seamless shift between a private proposal and open skyline portraits.

Planning and Capturing the Moment

  • Location: River Café garden and nearby waterfront
