Should I Propose In The Morning Or Afternoon?

Proposing in the morning has so many great benefits, especially in New York City. My top reasons to propose in the morning are as follows:

• Get it done and have the rest of the day to celebrate! Plan a post proposal brunch and then call your family/friends to share the news.

• Beat the crowds - Most NY’ers and tourists alike don’t really start their day until noon. That’s when all the good spots start to get busy.

• Lighting - The morning has GREAT light and lets us photograph in places we could not otherwise.

I know not everyone is a morning person, however the best way to get your partner out and about is by promising a coffee and a pastry. Real New Yorkers can’t say no to a good pastry and a coffee. Walk the park or that special place with a coffee in one hand and your partners hand in the other. I know it may be a bit cliche, but nothing beats a morning coffee and an empty city. Your partner will forget about the early wakeup when you ask the big question.

New York City is a city of a million possibilities. Selecting the right spot for your engagement session can be overwhelming. However, I always recommend selecting a destination that has meaning, either for your relationship or for the moment. For New Yorkers, I always recommend selecting a place with meaning; i.e. “We always go to Central Park every Sunday morning to sit on the same bench with a coffee”. And for those visiting from out of town, I suggest a place that is iconic NYC; Bethesda Fountain, Bow Bridge.

Fun Facts About New York City’s Central Park

The park is now managed by the Central Park Conservancy, an organization that was formed in 1980 by a group of private citizens. The Conservancy works with the city to maintain the natural features of the park and also organizes various cultural events throughout the year. Their work is on constantly on display everywhere you look, as garden hedges are perfectly manicured, lawns religiously mowed, and park benches cleaned.

Central Park’s popularity has continued to grow over time and it is now one of the most-visited sites in New York City, attracting more than 35 million visitors a year.

Central Park offers so many different looks and opportunities for a marriage proposal. Having a professional proposal photographer plan and capture your special moment within the park is a really nice touch. Finding the right spot in Central Park really depends on the time of day (lighting), what’s special to you both, and the seasons. A summer proposal in the middle of the day creates some challenges with lighting. However, working together we can overcome those challenges.

For Judson and Taylor’s proposal photos I wanted to capture parts of the New York City skyline behind them, so there would be some context in their photos. Ladies Pavillion on the West Side is a fantastic place to propose and have your moment photographed by a professional NYC photographer.

The best place to propose in Central Park on the West Side is Ladies Pavilion. It’s only a short trip in to the park and it shouldn’t take much convincing for you to get them to the spot. We really like photographing proposal at Ladies Pavillion for the following reasons:

• You’ll have bits of the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop to your big moment.

• You’re surrounded by water, so there won’t be people behind you in your photos.

• It’s not terribly crowded because it’s just off the beaten path.
