Hudson Yards Proposal

Jack's NYC Proposal at The Edge overlooking Hudson Yards

As a Secret Proposal Photographer in NYC, I have photographed countless marriage proposals all throughout New York City and Long Island. However, photographing at The Edge in Hudson Yards, with its stunning views of NYC, is special. Your photos at The Edge will have unobstructed views of New York City, whether that’s looking uptown, downtown, towards Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Long Island.

Finding the best spot to propose in NYC can be challenging! How to choose a spot.

When Jack inquired about hiring a proposal photographer, he knew where, when, and how he was going to propose to his girlfriend Tamara. His plan was to propose at The Edge first thing in the morning, and honestly, that’s one of the best times and places to propose. Proposing in the morning not only makes for great photos (the lighting is GREAT), but an amazing full day of celebrating. After you propose, you can get brunch and enjoy the rest of the day with your new fiance, family, and friends.

Steps to hiring a Proposal Photographer for the Edge at Hudson Yards

Planning this unique proposal location requires some coordination and planning. First, you have to purchase your photographer a ticket. Select a ticket time 1 hour before your proposal, so he/her are in their spot and ready to go before you arrive to the top of The Edge. Once you’re up top, on The Edge, you’re allowed to stay there. There is no time limit.

Make sure your photographer knows where the best lighting is and where the crowds are not. On today’s proposal, I arrived 1 hour early to scope out the location. Then, I sent Jack instructions on where to go (see below)

Matt’s Hudson Yards Vessel Proposal

Congrats, Matt and Abigail!

This was my first time visiting New York City’s newest neighborhood, Hudson Yards and seeing the Vessel. So, it was certainly my first time photographing a proposal at the Vessel. Matt and I scoped out the area a few weeks prior, just as the area opened to the public, which was super cool! We discussed where he’d enter, how he was going to propose, and why they were going all the way to the West Side.

Proposing in Hudson Yards at the Vessel, a first.

I arrived an hour early and checked out the area. I texted Matt a few photos of the current scene and to assure him I was in position.

Matt and Abigail arrived, and Matt asked a passerby for a photo, but no one agreed to take a photo (CRAZY!?!?). Matt slowly started to tell Abigail about their first date, why he cared about her, and what she meant to him. Then, he got down on one knee. A crowed gathered and cheered!

Hudson Yards proposal photographer, i’ll add that to my resume

The big moment was a success. Once emotions settled, I spent some time with the couple photographing them with the Vessel in the background. Then, we walked right on to the High Line, which runs by Hudson Yards, for additional photos to provide several different looks/styles to their photos.
