Garrett’s morning surprise proposal at the iconic Staple Street Skybridge brought a memorable moment to one of Tribeca’s most distinctive locations. Known for its unique architecture and charming cobblestone surroundings, Staple Street offers a quintessential New York City backdrop for couples looking for something different from a traditional park or waterfront proposal.
As a NYC proposal photographer, Jonathan Heisler captures the excitement and emotion of each proposal while making the most of the surrounding setting. After Garrett popped the question, we continued photographing the couple around Staple Street, using the bridge and surrounding streets to create a variety of portraits. The session ended with family photographs, giving everyone a chance to celebrate together and preserve memories of this special occasion.
Why Choose Staple Street for a NYC Proposal?
Staple Street is a distinctive Tribeca location, with its elevated skybridge, historic architecture, and cobblestone streets creating a setting that feels uniquely New York. Its recognizable details offer a striking backdrop for proposal photography without requiring an elaborate setup.
A morning proposal can also be a great way to begin the day, with time afterward for portraits and a celebration with family. Garrett’s session combined the intimacy of the proposal with photographs of the people closest to the couple, making the experience personal from beginning to end.
Some of the highlights of proposing at Staple Street include:

Family Portraits After the Proposal
When planning a proposal at a recognizable city location, consider how you’d like to use the surrounding streets for portraits and where family members can meet you afterward. Consider how you’ll get your person to X spot at Y time. Garrett chose to have a “brunch reservation” nearby, which gave them a natural reason to go to X spot at Y time.
